i first saw the numa numa gary brolsma video last year when the link was sent to me by a friend. i nearly fell off my chair in the office laughing it up. little did i realise that there are millions of these type of homemade videos being posted up by people for their 15 1.3 minutes of fame. a slate magazine podcast - the Fab 4 Million. Now i know where those videos forwarded to you inbox daily come from. apparently 35,000 videos are uploaded every day. you can leave comments on the videos and even leave a video comment! ain't technology grand? there's a whole universe of weird and kooky videos to explore, not to mention seeing videos of your friend's caesarean (don't ask). as with podcasts which i only started getting into recently and avantgo on my pda years ago (now sadly not compatible with my new laptop), i'm always excited about new sources of information. so am off to check out the latest uploads. here's two more by the ridiculously camp and funny 2 chinese boys- as long as you love me (back dorm boys) and bu de bu ai. enjoy.

merry music

through divine intervention, i attended the MPO's new year concert last night with my sister. it was fun and relatively informal as usual, with not just the usual waltzes and polkas courtesy of the Strauss family, but also Latin American pieces, most of which i had not heard of before. composers such as Guarneri, Moncayo,  Ginestera. i always forget how much i enjoy these concerts as the package i buy now only has 4 concerts spread throughout the year. somehow i think this makes them even more special and less a chore that the 12 or so i used to attend in the beginning.

realised yesterday also that have  been going for MPO concerts for 8 years now! how time flies. can still remember the excitement when i heard about the Dewan Filharmonik Petronas opening. my initial exposure to classical music was from uni days, stewarding at the arts centre. while i won't claim to be an expert, it always lifts my spirits and heart to watch live performances. it was also delightful to see my sister enjoying herself (hopefully she will take up her violin again).

in case you didn't understand dogspeak, that first entry was to introduce myself and welcome you to my lil old blog. i've been afraid of changes, but time makes you bolder and i'm older too (thanks FMac). so hopefully this new beginning will be more consistent and bold. thanks to tonto for getting me back on track. :)
